Hair Transplant Process in Turkey
A hair transplant follows a clear path: a consultation and graft plan, then operation day (hairline design, local anaesthetic, extraction and implantation), followed by aftercare and a growth timeline that runs over 9–12 months. The procedure itself is usually done in a single day under local anaesthetic; the results develop gradually as transplanted hair sheds and then regrows.
From first message to full growth
Knowing what happens at each stage makes the process far less daunting. It starts long before operation day — with an honest assessment of whether a transplant suits you, how many grafts you are likely to need and which technique fits your hair. It ends many months later, once the transplanted hair has matured into its final density.
Aftercare in the first weeks
The first two weeks matter most. You will receive guidance on the first wash, sleeping position, medication and what to avoid — sweating, direct sun, hats that rub, and strenuous exercise. Redness and small scabs are normal and typically fade over one to two weeks. The transplanted hairs then shed, which is expected, before the follicles begin to regrow.
What the timeline looks like
Most people return to non-strenuous routines within a few days. Shock loss (shedding of transplanted and sometimes surrounding hair) is common in the first weeks and is not a sign of failure. Early regrowth usually begins around month four, thickens through months six to nine, and matures by 9–12 months. Individual results vary.
How grafts and technique are decided before you start
Two things that shape the whole process are settled before operation day: how many grafts your case calls for and which technique fits your hair. The graft count is a match between what your donor area at the back and sides can safely give and the size of the area to cover — not a number you simply maximise. The technique (FUE, DHI with a Choi implanter pen, or a sapphire-blade variation of FUE) is chosen for your hair calibre, the zones being treated and whether you prefer a shaven or less-shaven approach.
This planning is why two people having "the same" hair transplant can have quite different days. A frontal-hairline case behaves differently from a full-pattern or crown case, and the plan reflects that. We confirm the final graft count and technique for your case, and individual results vary.
What's normal versus when to contact your team
Most of what happens in the first fortnight looks more dramatic than it is. Knowing the difference between ordinary healing and a genuine red flag saves a lot of worry — and means you get help quickly on the rare occasion it is needed.
